Lily’s trying out her new cat ears I made her on Christmas morning.

Nothing makes me think of Christmas and my Memaw than Poinsettias.

One of the things we prefer about Boise over our beloved Montana is the more mild winter. Last winter we only had two or three snows at our house and only one time did snow stick around and get deep enough to make a little snowman. We kept being told that it was an unusually mild winter, but we loved it. Well let me tell you, last winter must have been unusual because we’ve already had snow at least three times this winter and the last two have lasted overnight. I love looking at the snow, but I hate driving or walking in the stupid crap. Lily loves all of it however. She’s wanted to build another snowman since we did the one last year. So I put on my big-girl-Mama-panties and we went out to play in the freezing snow.
Unfortunately the snow didn’t agree to be snowman worthy. Lily didn’t let this bring her down. She just played and played. Snow angels worked out pretty good and I made three different colored water squirters for her to color the snow. Even without a fantastic snowman my girl had a good time.
I have always loved the look of snow sitting on tree or plants so I took some pictures of the plants in the back yard.
I don’t like letting my little piece of the innerwebs sit idle too long so I thought I should come and just say what a crazy time of year it is right now. I’m sure it’s the same for just about everyone. Between Lily’s birthday and Christmas I am drowning. I’ll come up for air soon and finish the Thanksgiving post I have in the works and then start back up with some kind of regular posting.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday season.
I’ll leave this post with a few pictures that Waldo and I have taken recently. It snowed here and Lily loved it.
Lily’s cooling her feet by the fan.
Don’t even ask me.
I made Lil a Pink Birdie. She has an imaginary Pink Birdie friend so now she has a slightly less imaginary one to play with.
I made tomato soup for the first time and baked mozzarella balls to go with it. The cheese balls didn’t survive the baking process, but it was all still very yummy and super rich.
We went to a bar-b-Que at a neighbor’s hour and right before we left Lily finally started to warm up to the other girls.
I made leek and potato soup last week and froze the leftover for later use. We decided that later was this past Monday. To make the leftover special I made Parmesan fricos to go on them. They were super easy to make and very yummy.
While we were at Hobby Lobby last week Waldo bought a little balsa wood plane for him and Lil to play with. It was a big hit.
Lily is very much in the stage of life where she is very opinionated about well everything but especially her clothing. So I have decided that as long as she’s weather appropriate it’s her choice.
This is one of Lily’s newest paintings. We have so many wonderful paintings on our walls. Who needs to buy artwork when you have a kid who loves to paint? Lil says it’s a man with really big pink feet balancing on sticks. I thought it was Lorax trees, but what do I know?
